Cableflow TECHTile®, the ceiling mounted building service interface tile has been selected for the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) project at the health innovation campus in Liverpool by Tilbury Douglas Engineering.
This contract award brings a sharp focus on the progress being offered in the Life Sciences sector by TECHTile® to facilitate ultimate flexibility in lab spaces to maximise building services delivery options with the deployment of modular lab-benching.
Tilbury Douglas has been appointed to deliver this new High Containment Level 3 (CL3) laboratory facility at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine as part of a flagship £10 million development funded through the Liverpool City Region’s Innovation Zone programme. Tilbury Douglas, which has a strong track record in delivering technically complex environments across science, healthcare and higher education sectors, will oversee the integration of advanced mechanical, electrical and containment systems to meet the stringent biosafety requirements of the new labs and TECHTile® forms a core part of the overall design and compliance concept.
The construction is leading the design-and-build of cutting-edge robotic laboratories equipped with artificial intelligence and automated systems and TECHTile® will be utilised to deliver multi-phase power, data and lab gas connections to lab benching, robotic equipment and lab machinery alike
These highly specialised spaces will support LSTM and the Infection Innovation Consortium (iiCON) in developing life-saving treatments, vaccines and diagnostics for some of the world’s most high-risk infectious diseases.
The Level 3 containment laboratories are being delivered as part of a wider £20 million investment supported by UKRI’s Expanding Excellence in England (E3) fund and the Wolfson Foundation.
Providing ultimate flexibility in re-configuration of lab spaces the Cableflow TECHTile® brings high-level power, data, lab gases and the options for fluids to the service points in open plan spaces for modular lab benching connections at low level with additional opportunity to incorporate ventilation and air extract connections.
